The Alakufo Descendants Group has officially endorsed and affirmed the appointment of Chief Abideen Olajide, popularly known as Ejiogbe, as the Alakufo of Akufo in the Ido Local Government Area. In a press statement, the family head of Akufo, Chief Muibi Ajayi-Alakufo, declared that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, is the consenting and prescribed authority in this matter.

Ajayi-Alakufo referred to a letter dated December 18, 2023, from the Olubadan, in which Oba Balogun confirmed his consent for the appointment of Chief Olajide Abideen Abimbola as the Alakufo of Akufo, in accordance with the Chief’s Law of Oyo State. The letter further affirmed that the appointment took effect on December 18, 2023.

Earlier, on December 15, 2023, another letter from the Olubadan’s office, signed by the Secretary of the Olubadan Advisory Council, K. Liasu, invited Chief Abideen Olajide and members of the family to appear before the Olubadan, which they did in a celebratory ceremony.

The group expressed strong disapproval of claims made by Taoreed Ololade Adefisoye, who contended that he was the rightful Alakufo and called on Chief Olajide to stop parading himself as such. Ajayi-Alakufo labeled Adefisoye’s statement as an attempt to distort history, create division, and stir disunity in Akufoland. He warned Adefisoye to refrain from spreading falsehoods or face serious consequences for his actions.
