Babatunji Wusu –
All ambassadors and non-career ambassadors working abroad have been called back by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Tribune claims that on September 2, 2023, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced this through Alkasim Abdulkadir, Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy.
In response to questions regarding the letter that called for the recall of the Nigerian ambassador to the UK, he said: “Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has reiterated that all career and non-career ambassadors have been brought back under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s orders.
Ambassadors act as the nation’s representatives at the president’s request. The ambassadors are required to start winding down their operations in the countries where they were deployed, take a formal leave of absence from the host government within 60 days, and return to Nigeria no later than October 31, 2023.
