Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared he would defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election if handed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket.
Speaking during a live conversation on X Spaces, the former Rivers State governor asserted he understands Tinubu’s political playbook well enough to unseat him.
“I know Tinubu very well. I know his strengths. I know his weaknesses,” Amaechi said confidently. “If allowed to fly the flag of ADC, I will defeat Tinubu for sure.”
Amaechi, who has never contested directly against Tinubu, also claimed he had never engaged in electoral malpractice and distanced himself from the All Progressives Congress (APC) election planning committees.
“I challenge any politician, living or dead, to come forward and say I was part of rigging,” he stated. “In fact, all the appointments given to me by APC to join election planning committees, I refused. I know what they discuss. I hear them. If I get the ticket, I will reveal those things.”
Amaechi’s remarks have ignited fresh political debate ahead of the 2027 race, with many viewing his bold assertions as a direct challenge to the presidency.
