The permitted departure status, which allows family members and some workers to voluntarily leave because of the increased danger of terrorist attacks, was granted to Embassy Abuja on October 25, 2022, according to the terror alert.
The U.S. Embassy in Abuja continues to have a constrained capacity to offer emergency assistance to American individuals in Nigeria, it was underlined. The American Consulate in Lagos is still available to help Americans in need in Nigeria.
Following similar security alerts from the United States and the United Kingdom on Sunday regarding a potential terrorist attack in the Federal Capital Territory that might target governmental structures, houses of worship, and educational institutions among others, the most recent terror alert was issued.
