Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, a former Registrar of the National Examination Council, has been selected as the university’s first Vice Chancellor by the Board of Trustees.
This was stated in a statement issued by the university’s administrative secretary, Malam Yusuf Datti, a copy of which was made available on Monday.
According to the release, Garba’s appointment was authorized by the university’s Board of Trustees, which is chaired by Emeritus Prof. Muhammad Sani Zahradeen.
Datti revealed that following a lengthy process, Garba came out on top among various academicians.
Garba, an education professor with over 33 years of teaching, research, and community service experience, previously served as Vice Chancellor, Administration, Bayero University Kano.
He later served as Chief Executive Officer of NECO as well as Special Adviser to the Minister of Education, demonstrating his dedication to educational progress.
The institution expresses confidence in Garba’s capacity to lead and shepherd the university toward a future of distinction and achievement.
The National Universities Commission recently granted a license to Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University in Kano, which was named after the late father of business magnate and president of the Bua Group of Companies.
