According to a report by The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, a former Colombian moderator for TikTok claimed that she was forced to keep her webcam on all night.
Nine moderators were interviewed by TBIJ; they volunteered their experiences but asked that their identities be kept a secret out of concern that they may lose their jobs or jeopardize their chances of finding future work.
Former TikTok moderator Carolina (not her real name), who worked remotely for Teleperformance, a Paris-based company that provides moderation services, and was paid $10 per day, claimed she had to have her camera on all the while throughout her night shift, according to TBIJ.
The business also instructed her to only have a drink in a clear cup on her desk and to avoid having anyone in the camera’s field of view.
