The Anambra State Government has fiercely debunked rumors that its security forces plan to arrest women for not wearing bras or underwear.

In a statement on Monday, Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, condemned the claim as “false and malicious,” branding it a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

The government dismissed the reports as baseless, stressing that no such policy exists. Officials warned against spreading misinformation that could incite panic and tarnish the state’s reputation.

“The attention of the Anambra State Government has been drawn to a malicious and entirely false piece of information circulating on social media, alleging that ‘Anambra State Government begins arrest of girls who walk around without bras and pants before they start walking naked,’” the statement read.

Authorities urged residents to disregard the fake reports and cautioned against the reckless spread of misinformation, emphasizing the government’s commitment to law, order, and individual freedoms.
