Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has rewarded Miss Ifebude Benson with a ₦500,000 cash prize for her outstanding performance in the 2023 NECO Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).
The cheque was presented on Sunday in Awka by the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, on behalf of the governor. Since Ifebude was unavailable, the award was received by her father, Mr. Ben Benson.
According to Chuma-Udeh, the state government has heavily invested in education to ensure that students in Anambra receive world-class learning experiences and can compete globally.
“The award is the governor’s way of encouraging academic excellence among Anambra pupils and students,” she stated.
Miss Ifebude, a native of Ndikelionwu in Orumba North Local Government Area, distinguished herself by securing A1 in all nine subjects she sat for in the NECO exam. She has since gained admission into the University of Abuja, where she is studying Medicine and Surgery.
Reacting to the gesture, her father, Ben Benson, expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, describing Governor Soludo as a leader who values hard work.
“This award will serve as motivation for my daughter and many other students to excel in their academics,” he said.
The recognition further underscores Anambra State’s commitment to academic excellence and its efforts to nurture future leaders through quality education and incentives for outstanding performance.
