A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jesutega Onokpasa, has declared that he will not back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 unless key changes are made.
Speaking during an Arise TV interview on Monday, Onokpasa accused the president of disrespecting party loyalists by appointing Daniel Bwala, a former spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, as Special Adviser on Policy Communication.
The appointment, which has sparked discontent among APC members, was labeled an affront by Onokpasa, who argued that loyal party members were overlooked in favor of individuals who had openly criticized Tinubu during the 2023 elections.
Expressing his frustration, Onokpasa said, “The president cannot continue to insult us by rewarding those who slandered him and our party. Respect party members who worked for your victory.”
On whether he plans to exit the APC, he clarified, “Tinubu doesn’t own the party. We built it together.”
