Tunji Wusu –

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged the federal government and security services to look into the claimed murder attempt on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate.

In order to properly punish them, he said, the security agencies need also identify both the heinous act’s perpetrators and its backers.

In a statement made available to reporters in Port Harcourt yesterday, Eze issued a strong warning against any unpleasant behavior toward Atiku, as well as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Peter Obi, and the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate.

The APC leader claimed that the attack on the PDP presidential candidate revealed a palpable sense of dread that may have been planned by undemocratic forces and classes to seize control of the entire civil society in an effort to once again usurp democracy and suppress the desires of the majority in the pursuit of a personal, selfish grudge.

He voiced worry over the amount of insecurity that has persisted in the nation, calling the situation “heart-wrenching” and “grossly uncomfortable” despite the fact that it is believed that billions of naira have been spent on the security issues this country is currently facing.

“Insecurity in Nigeria has successfully reached a level where farmers can no longer travel to their farms and people can no longer travel safely without the fear of attacks, thus discrediting the federal government’s declaration of emergency on food security as nothing more than mere talk,” Eze added.

“The nation appears to be going back to a time when life was harsh, unpleasant, and brief.

Security around Atiku needs to be increased because he is a political heavyweight who is steadfast and well-known, and who still has a lot to offer the nation. He is known as the “Waziri Adamawa.”
