Tuesday marks the start of Argentina’s World Cup campaign in Qatar against Saudi Arabia, one of the favorites to win the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Argentina would match its previous best performance with a victory or a tie against the Gulf nation.
Argentina had played 36 games without losing when they arrived in Qatar, one less than Italy’s record. The longest active unbeaten streak in Argentina began in 2019.
Here are the top five unbeaten streaks in international football –

Italy | 37 | 2018-2021 |

Argentina’s 36-match unbeaten streak was extended on November 16 when it defeated the UAE 5-0. Argentina’s winning streak included the 2021 Copa America title, a 1-0 victory over Brazil in the championship game, and the 2022 Finalisimma title.
Since losing 0-2 to Brazil in the 2019 Copa America, La Albiceleste has not dropped a match.
Argentina, the winner of the 1978 and 1986 World Cups, fell to Germany in the championship game of the 2014 edition, and four years later, in Russia, it was ousted by France in the round of 16.
