-Army Confirms Casualties as Troops Repel Bandit Attacks in Niger, Kaduna
–Scores of Terrorists Neutralised, Gallant Soldiers Killed in Fierce Gun Battle
The Nigerian Army has confirmed the killing of scores of bandits in Niger and Kaduna States following a series of fierce gun battles with terrorists in the affected regions.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday, the Army revealed that troops from both the land and air components engaged the assailants in Kwanar Dutse Mairiga and Boka in Niger State, as well as Aungwan Turai in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to the statement, the armed terrorists had launched unprovoked attacks on the communities before troops swiftly launched counter-offensives to neutralise the threat.
“Land and air component troops launched several counter-attacks that eliminated scores of bandits in the encounters,” the Army said.
However, the military also confirmed that some of its personnel were killed in action, while others sustained injuries during the day-long battles.
“Sadly, some gallant warriors paid the supreme price in the day-long battles, while four wounded in-action troops are currently receiving treatment for their gunshot wounds,” the statement added.
The Army noted that more updates will be shared as the operations continue across the affected regions.
The fresh offensive comes amid renewed military pressure on terrorist enclaves in Nigeria’s Northwest and Northcentral regions, where bandits have repeatedly targeted vulnerable communities.
