Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka believes the team can end its 21-year wait for a Premier League title this season following their impressive 2-0 victory over Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday. Last season, Arsenal finished as runners-up, narrowly missing out on the title to Manchester City on the final day, but they currently sit third in the league standings.
Saka expressed cautious optimism in an interview with CBS Sports, stating, “I don’t want to put too much pressure on us, but I do think that this is the year we can win the title. We’ve been close the last two years, and we’re getting closer, but this hopefully will be the year.”
Having established himself as a pivotal player for Arsenal and the top scorer in the Premier League last season, Saka’s determination is fueled by the club’s near misses. “In previous years, I’ve come runners-up a lot. It’s just that spirit in me that I want to win this season,” he said, adding, “We believe in ourselves; we’re a top team, and we showed that tonight against PSG.”
Arsenal’s next challenge comes as they host 19th-placed Southampton in a league match on Saturday.
