The injury that prompted Bukayo Saka to leave Sunday’s 5-0 Premier League victory against Nottingham Forest midway through the first half is not thought to be severe enough to prevent him from competing in the World Cup in Qatar, according to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Gabriel Martinelli’s Arsenal debut was made possible by Saka, who was later killed by Forest left-back Renan Lodi. Before requesting to be replaced, he attempted to continue.

Three weeks before the World Cup begins, when Saka might play a major role for England, it will make manager Gareth Southgate nervous, but Arteta was upbeat when asked if the injury was serious.

Jesus put on a lively performance that helped Arsenal move back to the top of the Premier League standings, two points ahead of Manchester City, despite the fact that he was unable to score but did provide two assists.

We knew we had a tough game ahead of us, so it’s amazing to be here, Arteta remarked. “Winning in this league is never easy, and after traveling, we were aware of how difficult the match would be” (for the Europa League in midweek). We performed admirably and scored some outstanding goals.

“It was crucial (to score early), as it increases confidence and energizes the crowd.”
