Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has wished his African Democratic Congress (ADC) counterpart, Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu, a speedy recovery from COVID-19.
Atiku’s message is contained in a brief statement signed by him on Saturday.
In a statement, Kachikwu revealed that he had contracted COVID-19.
Despite the government’s relaxation of COVID-19 rules, the ADC flagbearer urged Nigerians not to relax their guard.
He stated that citizen vigilance could assist the nation in adequately combating the pandemic’s resurgence.
“Nigerians must not let their guard down even though the Government has relaxed COVID rules.
“Our public health system can’t cope with the fallout of huge infection rates with attendant symptoms, especially at a time when our health care professionals are leaving the country in droves.
“We must increase testing and take all necessary precautions not to spread the virus.
“We must not allow political rallies to become COVID spreaders and reverse the gains made in combating the virus.
“We will survive the Corona Virus if we all remain vigilant,” Kachikwu said in part of his statement.
“My heart goes out to Dumebi Kachikwu, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), over reports of his positive test to COVID-19,” Atiku responded.
“As human beings and Nigerians, we now stand by you and wish you a speedy recovery,” Atiku said.
