Babatunji Wusu –
Thursday saw the kidnapping by bandits of at least 23 residents of the Kawu village in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Abdulmumini Zakari, an area councillor, confirmed the kidnapping. He claimed that the gunmen broke up into groups and entered the hamlet from Kaduna State’s Kuyeri Forest.
A few of them, he said, broke into the palace of the district leader, Alhaji Abdurrahman Danjuma Ali, and took off with his son Lukman and his wife, whom he had only married two weeks earlier.
“The compound belonging to Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, the Marafa of Kawu, and a former PDP Chairman of Kawu Ward was attacked by others,” he claimed.
He asserted that after capturing the former PDP chairman and his four children, the bandits broke into Gambo Pawa’s compound and abducted Sarkin Pawan Kawu, his two wife, and their children.
A spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident.
Recall that in recent weeks, the bandits have abducted several inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory.
The people living in the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory make up the bulk of those affected by the criminal activities.
