According to manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal may have given Manchester City a significant lead going into a pivotal weekend in the Premier League title battle, but it will maintain its composure in the last two matches despite its slim odds.

Arsenal needs to defeat Nottingham Forest on Saturday in order to realistically stay in the title race at least until Pep Guardiola’s team plays Chelsea the following day. City is on 85 points and leads Arsenal by four points with a game remaining.

“With two games remaining, we still have a chance to win the Premier League title against what is undoubtedly the best club in league history. We’re still there, and we won’t bottle that, I can assure you of that, Arteta told the press.

It demonstrates the caliber of this league. The City team is capable of winning by 105 to 110 points. Due to the caliber of the league and the fact that we have been engaged in a 10-month battle, they haven’t done that this season.

Arteta acknowledged that Arsenal’s 3-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend was a tough pill to swallow, but he tried to put the young team’s accomplishments this season into perspective.

The last two games — what the prospects are, what is in our control, and what we can provide — were discussed in the days that followed, he continued.

“We want to stay where we have been for the past ten months… We must remember what transpired when we weren’t performing at our peak or at the level necessary to be champions, and we must accept that.

However, the team, the players, and the club should all be commended for how far we’ve gone this season. Two more crucial games need to be played.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Martinelli, who are both injured, won’t be available for the remainder of the season, according to Arteta.

Following a poorly timed tackle by Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, Martinelli was forced off the pitch against Brighton with an ankle injury.

“Gabi suffered a serious injury. It will take a few weeks, but we need to determine that in the coming week,” Arteta added.

“Alex has a calf problem and won’t be able to play in the upcoming games.”
