Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed deep concern on Wednesday, criticizing Nigerian courts for contributing to political instability across the country. Reacting to a Federal High Court ruling that blocked monthly allocations to Rivers State, Atiku stated that the judiciary is increasingly “fostering political crises.” His comments were shared in a press release by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe.
The court’s decision responded to a suit filed by a faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Martins Amaewhule. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ruled that Governor Siminalayi Fubara violated constitutional procedures by presenting the 2024 budget to a four-member assembly, citing the act as a breach of governance protocols.
