Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has firmly denied reports claiming he has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race, describing the narrative as false and deliberately misleading.
Atiku, who flew the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, was alleged in viral reports to have stepped aside in favour of Labour Party candidate Peter Obi.
The reports further claimed that Atiku had endorsed a one-term presidency for Obi as part of a power-balancing arrangement. However, Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, swiftly debunked the claims, branding them as fake news.
Reacting on Saturday, December 27, Ibe shared a screenshot of the circulating report on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account and dismissed it with a terse response: “Fake news: Not on the menu!”
The rebuttal comes amid growing political realignments, as reports also suggest that Peter Obi is considering a formal move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
