Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, disavowed an audio clip that went viral in which he is heard discussing allegedly manipulating Saturday’s poll.
The PDP Presidential Campaign Council chairman, Aminu Tambuwal, and Atiku’s running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, are both heard discussing the purported plan with Atiku in the aforementioned audio tape.
Atiku quickly responded, however, by calling the aforementioned audio tape complete nonsense and claiming that the opposition was to blame for the PDP candidate for foreseeing it.
Any attentive listener would be able to tell that the tape was phony, according to the statement, which was signed by Phrank Shuaibu, one of the Atiku campaign spokespersons.
The statement read: “We warned last week that the amount of propaganda on social media will increase as the election draws near. Within 24 hours before the election, we have already seen propaganda from both the Labour Party and the All Progressives Congress.
“In this newest rubbish, speeches by Atiku, Tambuwal, and Okowa from last year were edited and stitched together to create the appearance that they were discussing strategies to rig Saturday’s election. Even the dead can appear to be giving talks in this day and age of artificial intelligence. It’s nothing new, really.
“For the record, Atiku has run for president twice and has never faced charges for meddling in elections or purchasing votes.
But some people believe they can convince people that Atiku cheated in this election. The last kick of a dying horse, this is unquestionably the height of despair. Elections are won at the polling places, not on social media, the APC and the Labour Party must remember this.
