The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has countered the remarks made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who claimed that Nigerians have rejected Atiku and urged him to quit politics.

Atiku, speaking through his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, stated that he won’t “stoop to gutter politics” by trading insults with Wike. Wike had earlier criticized Atiku, saying, “You, who have contested and failed miserably, should go home.”

In response, Ibe described Wike’s comments as empty theatrics stemming from lingering bitterness over his loss to Atiku in the 2022 PDP primaries. He added that Wike’s focus on personal grievances instead of national issues shows where his true interests lie.

While Wike indulges in public rants, Atiku’s team emphasized they remain focused on addressing the real problems facing Nigerians.
