Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) mammoth supporters shut down Kano’s historic center on Thursday to give the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, a rousing greeting while he was in the state capital for a rally.
This comes right after the PDP flag-bearer was informed by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr) Aminu Ado Bayero, that his late father, Alhaji Ado Bayero, had predicted that Atiku would become president during a visit to the palace.
When I was serving as Vice President of Nigeria, he claims that “we were on a courtesy call to the palace when late Emir Ado Bayero claimed he spotted among us someone who was going to be President and who would bring greatness to Nigeria.”
The late Emir Ado Bayero “didn’t stop at that,” he continued.
He continued to pray for Nigeria’s socioeconomic advancement and for the President he had just seen.
“I believed I was the one indicated by the late Emir Ado Bayero, so it became important for the sitting Emir Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero to follow suit and pray for him to realize the dreams of the late Bayero,” he declared passionately.
To keep the campaign rally peaceful and orderly, strong security personnel barred all roads leading to the well-known Sani Abacha stadium, which is not far from the palace of the Emir of Kano, as early as 6 am on Thursday.
Massive crowds occupied the main thoroughfares as hundreds of fans cheered “Atiku kai Mike so,” which translates to “Atiku you are the one we want.”
