Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has intensified efforts to reposition the African Democratic Congress (ADC), pledging to work closely with party leaders at all levels to build a formidable opposition force in Bauchi State.
Atiku made the commitment while receiving a delegation of key ADC stakeholders from Bauchi, led by Alhaji Aminu Ahmed Yapeco, the Sarkin Yakin Katagum. Yapeco addressed journalists after the meeting, describing the engagement as strategic and forward-looking.
The former vice president said the discussions provided a critical platform to assess the current state of the party in Bauchi and confront structural weaknesses hindering its growth. He disclosed that the meeting focused on strengthening internal cohesion, improving effectiveness, and repositioning the ADC for greater political relevance.
According to Atiku, the engagement forms part of a broader strategy to transform the ADC into a credible alternative capable of articulating and defending the interests of Bauchi residents.
“At this meeting, we carefully reviewed existing shortcomings, and I am fully committed to working hand in hand with party leaders at every level to build a strong, responsive, and effective opposition that truly represents the interests of Bauchi citizens,” he said.
The visit highlights renewed consultations among opposition figures as political parties ramp up grassroots engagement and consolidate their structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
