The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched Senator Dino Melaye’s campaign for governor in Kogi.

Prior to the November 11 governorship election, the campaign flag-off was held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in Okene, Kogi State.

At the event, which was attended by key party officials and members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), the opposition party also officially presented Melaye with the campaign flag.

Party heavyweights were present at the ceremony, including Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Traditional authorities, representatives of faith-based organizations, youth and women’s groups, important political players, and throngs of fans from all throughout Kogi state are also present during the flag-off.

Melaye is one of the top three candidates, along with Murtala Yakubu-Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Leke Abdejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Ahmed Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dino Melaye’s campaign claims that Alhaji Muritala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Elder Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are agents of the APC, which is now in power.

Melaye’s campaign claimed that the contenders for governor are working toward Yahaya Bello, the current governor of Kogi State, being re-elected for a third term.

It was learned that David Itopa, the spokesperson for the PDP’s Dino/Deen youth campaign committee, made this charge over the weekend.

Itopa contended that Ajaka had previously been a close associate of Governor Bello and had contributed to the purposeful destitution of the Kogi state population.
