The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the kidnapping of Chukwudi Ogbonna, the Accord Party’s House of Assembly candidate for the state’s Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Constituency 2.

On Monday night, Ogbonna was returning to his residence when unidentified crooks abducted him and took him at gunpoint to an unspecified location.

A popular candidate for the election on Saturday, the victim was abducted on Monday night about 8:30 pm in the Rumuigbo neighborhood of Port Harcourt.

Nonetheless, it was confirmed by the Rivers State Police Command that an inquiry into the situation had begun.

The police are aware of the development, according to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko.

We are aware of the kidnapping, Iringe-Koko remarked. To make sure he is released, an investigation has started.

According to reports, the candidate, who was traveling in a white Mercedes-Benz with a friend, was taken away, and both his vehicle and friend were left behind.

Ifeakachukwu Nwakiri, speaking after the development was confirmed, claimed that the gunmen stopped him when he was returning to his house.

He added that police have been informed of the event and claimed that the kidnapping was motivated by politics.

“It is sad that individuals are engaging in politics of resentment and kidnapping,” he remarked. Politics today essentially consists of this. Politics is played with human blood.

“Under the Accord Party, my brother, Engr. Chukwudi Ogbonna, is standing for the ONELGA constituency 2 seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Threats have been made repeatedly. The danger materialized this evening. Everyone wants him to be the next president. Humans require change. They require sound leadership. Before entering politics, he was making a difference in people’s lives.

“Four members of the underworld double crossed him yesterday at around 8:24 p.m. At gunpoint, they abducted him. Nobody is aware of his whereabouts while I speak with you.
