Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has firmly dismissed reports suggesting he is in talks to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the claims as false and politically motivated.

In a statement personally signed and issued to journalists, Badaru said the reports circulating on social media are baseless, unfounded and driven by political mischief aimed at gaining undue advantage.

He stressed that he remains fully committed to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party he helped to establish, noting that his loyalty to the ruling party is total and unwavering.

The former minister urged members of the public and supporters of the APC to disregard what he described as misleading and fabricated claims, reiterating that he has no intention of leaving the party and remains a dedicated APC member.

Speculation had earlier emerged on social media alleging that Badaru was making moves to join the opposition ADC.

The rumours come amid an intense political rivalry between loyalists of the former minister and supporters of the incumbent Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, with both camps trading accusations of anti-party activities.
