Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has declared Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31, 2025, as statewide work-free days to mobilize massive voter participation in the November 1 local government elections.
In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, the government announced that all markets, banks and public offices will shut down during the two-day holiday, while movement will be restricted except for essential service providers.
The state government said the decision is to enable eligible voters return to their polling units, finalize preparations and turn out in large numbers to elect credible grassroots leaders.
Governor Bago further ordered security agencies to enforce peaceful and orderly conduct throughout the election period, assuring residents of adequate protection.
