Suspected bandits have abducted ten persons, including seven members of the same family, during a late-night raid in Unguwar Sabon-Titi along the Katari–Hayin Dam road in Kachia Local Government Area.

A resident of Katari, Markus Yakubu, confirmed that the incident occurred at about 9:32 p.m. on Thursday.

Yakubu said the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed a residential compound and seized seven members of a single family before moving to a neighbouring house where they abducted three additional residents.

“The bandits came in large numbers and surrounded my neighbour’s house. Some of them entered and whisked away members of the family. They then moved to the next house and took three more people,” he said.

According to him, the attackers initially operated silently without gunfire but began shooting after moving the victims out of the community.

He explained that the bandits likely avoided shooting earlier because the targeted house is located close to the residence of the Katari Divisional Police Officer.

The abducted victims were identified as Jummai Amos, Barnabas Amos, Iko Amos, Baby Amos, Eunice Amos, Eshiwan Amos and Godwin Amos. Others taken include Bagudu Damisa, Evelyn Damisa and Alfred Iriyo.

“Because the DPO’s house is very close, they avoided shooting at first so as not to draw attention,” Yakubu added.

Community sources confirmed that security operatives have since launched a search operation, combing nearby forests in an effort to locate the victims and secure their release.

Efforts to get an official response from the Kaduna State Police Command proved unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, Hassan Mansur, did not respond to calls or messages as of the time of filing this report.
