Not less than 15 people have been reportedly killed by suspected bandits in Goronyo and Illela Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.
Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, confirmed the reports on Monday before he presented the 2022 Sokoto appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly.
He said that three people lost their lives in Goronyo while 12 people were killed in Illela in attacks that occurred between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Goronyo and Illela are two of the council areas where telecommunications networks have been shut down. The government also banned weekly markets to curtail the activities of bandits in the state.
Before his presentation, Tambuwal condoled with those whose loved ones were killed in the attacks.
