Armed bandits launched attacks on villages in Shiroro and Munya Local Government Areas of Niger State, resulting in the death of one person, multiple abductions, and the theft of livestock. The incidents were reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official social media account.
The first attack took place on February 22, 2025, around 2:15 p.m. in the Shiroro LGA villages of Kutako Makera and Galadiman-Kogo, where bandits on motorcycles killed a 75-year-old resident, Bansi Kutako. Several villagers were abducted, and livestock was stolen.
In a separate attack in Munya LGA, on February 23, at approximately 3:50 a.m., bandits invaded Hayin-Dogo village, kidnapping five residents, including two women. The victims were identified as Adamu Danfulani, Umar Sanda, Murtala Tailor, Aisha Rabiu, and 26-year-old Ramatu Murtala.
In response to these attacks, a joint security operation involving the military, police, vigilantes, and DSS special hunters has been initiated to track down the criminals, rescue the kidnapped individuals, and recover the stolen livestock.
