The release of the remains of one Obadiah Ibrahim, who was abducted in early October in Sabon Gaya while returning from Abuja to Kaduna, is being sought for a ransom of N10 million.
Kefas Obadiah, a relative of the victim, claimed that the criminals had previously demanded N3 million in ransom.
Although he claimed that his brother passed away on Monday, the family just learned of his passing on Thursday.
“Even after receiving N3 million in ransom, the robbers refused to release my brother while he was being held captive. The name of my brother is Obadiah Ibrahim. On his way back from Abuja to Kaduna in the beginning of October, he was abducted in Sabon Gaya.
Despite the fact that I wasn’t the one interacting with the thieves. A mediator existed. The bandits initially sought N200 million but subsequently agreed to pay N3 million and more. They advised us to bring the cash. After we paid the ransom, they informed us that we needed to send N15 million since their food supplies had run out.
“They eventually settled on N5 million and 3 motorcycles before collecting one bike. After picking up a bike, they vanished from our radar. We made an effort to speak with them, but we were unsuccessful.
When the mediator called them on Thursday, they reported that their brother had passed away. We believed they were being humorous. They promised to find the caller and come after him if he didn’t stop phoning their number when we persisted.
They claimed that their men were killed after being detained by the police and chained to a tree. Because of what the cops did to their brother, they also turned their rage on our brother.
“They told us on Thursday that Ibrahim had passed away on Monday. When we asked for his corpse, they stated we would need to pay them N10 million since they wouldn’t do it for free.
They promised to free the corpse in three days if we bring the money, he said.
