-Banks Announce Reduced Service Hours Nationwide for June 30
Half-Year Financial Audit Triggers Early Closure in GTB, Zenith Bank Branches

Customers of commercial banks in Nigeria have been advised to complete their banking transactions early on Monday, June 30, 2025, as leading financial institutions will operate reduced hours across the country.

Zenith Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) issued separate statements over the weekend announcing the early closure of branches to allow for scheduled half-year audit exercises.

Zenith Bank, in its notice to customers, said its branches nationwide would operate between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm on Monday.

“Please be informed that our branches nationwide will only be open to customers on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm,” the bank stated.

Similarly, GTB announced that its Lagos State branches would close by 3:00 pm, while upcountry branches in other states would close an hour earlier, at 2:00 pm.

“Kindly note the early closure time below: Upcountry Branches – 2:00 pm; Lagos Branches – 3:00 pm,” the bank’s notice read.

The move is part of preparations by banks and companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) to compile and submit their half-year audit reports, which track critical financial metrics such as:

  • Profit Before Tax (PBT)

  • Return on Average Equity (RoAE)

  • Net Interest Margin (NIM)

Audit season is a key period for financial institutions, during which they review and disclose their financial health and performance to regulators, investors, and stakeholders.

Customers are therefore encouraged to plan their in-branch transactions ahead of time, as there may be limited service windows on the stated date.
