Barau Condemns Killing of Northern Travellers in Edo

Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of Northern travellers in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, calling on security agencies to immediately arrest the perpetrators.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the attack as “barbaric, inhumane, and devilish.” He urged the Edo State Police Command and other security agencies to act swiftly in bringing those responsible to justice.

The victims, mostly Hausa hunters traveling to Kano for Sallah celebrations, were reportedly intercepted by a mob, their vehicle ransacked, and brutally murdered.

“I have been inundated with calls from my constituents and concerned Nigerians over this horrific act. I condemn in totality the barbaric killing of innocent Nigerians,” Senator Barau said.

He assured the public that he would sponsor a motion in the Senate to ensure the attackers are held accountable.

“Our security agencies must swing into action immediately to arrest these evildoers and ensure they are punished in line with the gravity of their crime,” he added.

Emphasizing the need for national unity, the Deputy Senate President reminded Nigerians of the country’s diversity and urged all citizens to embrace one another for collective progress and development.

Senator Barau also extended his condolences to the families of the victims and offered prayers for the repose of their souls, assuring them that justice would be served.
