Barcelona have reached an agreement with Newcastle United for the signing of England international Anthony Gordon, according to reports confirmed on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old winger is expected to become the club’s first major signing of the summer as the Spanish champions continue rebuilding their attack following the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.

According to sources close to the club, Barcelona agreed to pay around 70 million euros plus an additional 10 million euros in performance-related bonuses for the England forward. The official announcement of the transfer is expected before the end of the week.

The Anthony Gordon transfer represents another major move by the Catalan giants, who are now reportedly free to sign players again without previous financial restrictions.

Spanish media reports suggest Gordon’s arrival will strengthen Barcelona’s options on the left wing, although the club may still pursue more attacking reinforcements during the transfer window.

Born in Liverpool, Anthony Gordon developed through Everton’s academy before joining Newcastle in 2023 for a fee believed to be around 50 million euros.

The winger impressed strongly during the recent season and earned a place in England’s World Cup squad. He also enjoyed an excellent Champions League campaign, scoring 10 goals in 12 matches.

Gordon faced Barcelona twice during this season’s European competition and reportedly caught the attention of the club’s recruitment team with his pace, movement, and attacking quality.

The transfer highlights Barcelona’s determination to remain competitive both in La Liga and in Europe as the club prepares for another demanding campaign next season.
