Two automobiles were involved in a fatal car collision that claimed the lives of 11 individuals in total along the Bauchi-Gombe route.
The Federal Roads Safety Commission’s State Sector Command (FRSC) confirmed it in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday morning.
According to the road traffic crash (RTC) report from RS12.13, Alkaleri dated Saturday, October 22, the crash happened at 1730 hours and was claimed to have taken FRSC employees to the scene by 1745 hours, 15 minutes later, while rescue took place until 1800 hours.
A Toyota Hiace Commercial bus with the registration number BA114-A28 from the fleet of Yankari Express and a DAF truck with the registration number JMU169XA from the Dangote Group were involved in an accident on the busy Alkaleri-Gombe highway in the village of Hawan Jaki.
Muhammed Musa, who holds a national driver’s license with the number SUL08629AA76, was the one operating the DAF truck.
The tragic collision involved 20 male adults, of whom 9 died at the scene, 2 died later at the hospital, and 10 suffered various injuries, according to the FRSC investigation. The probable cause of the accident was reckless driving (DGD).
The victims were transported to the General Hospital in Alkaleri by FRSC officers so that the injured could be treated and the deaths could be confirmed.
The report was approved by the Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, and signed by RC Aliyu B Sunusi for the Alkaleri Unit Command of the FRSC.
