Bauchi Police Arrest Two Over Murder of Motorcycle Rider

• Victim Identified: 25-year-old motorcycle rider Dauda Manu was found dead with multiple injuries in Dosho Village, near Darazo.

• Suspects Arrested: Yau Buba (25) was arrested in Gombe State with the victim’s stolen Boxer motorcycle. He later implicated Buba Muhammadu, who allegedly sold him the bike for ₦250,000.

• Police Investigation: The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiries.

• Next Steps: The suspects will be charged in court upon completion of investigations.

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a motorcycle rider, Dauda Manu, whose body was discovered with multiple injuries along Dosho Village, near Darazo.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday, March 24, 2025.

According to Wakil, the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters received a report on March 5, 2025, about a motionless, unidentified body found along the road. Upon arrival, detectives evacuated the body to the General Hospital in Darazo, where a medical doctor confirmed the victim dead.

Investigations revealed that Manu was last seen on March 4, 2025, riding his Boxer motorcycle with two unidentified passengers.

Suspect Caught with Stolen Motorcycle

As the police investigation progressed, detectives arrested Yau Buba (25), a resident of Minchika Village in Darazo LGA, in Gombe State while he was in possession of the victim’s motorcycle.

Upon interrogation, Buba confessed that he had bought the bike from Buba Muhammadu for ₦250,000. This led to Muhammadu’s arrest on March 21, 2025.

Ongoing Investigation & Legal Action

Wakil stated that the case had been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiries.

“The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he added.

The police are expected to conduct a comprehensive probe to determine if there are other accomplices involved in the murder and robbery.
