Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has approved an N80,000 minimum wage for state civil servants, set to take effect on November 1, 2024. He also raised monthly pensions for retirees and allocated N7 billion to settle outstanding gratuities, aiming to ease the financial burden on state employees.

Chief Press Secretary Daniel Alabrah announced the changes in a statement from Yenagoa on Saturday, noting Diri’s recognition of the economic challenges facing workers. Diri also thanked civil servants for their patience, commitment, and support for his administration’s policies and programs.
