At an event in Abuja on Tuesday, September 3, the co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation shared insights on Nigeria’s fiscal future. He emphasized that there are plans for Nigeria to increase government funding over time, noting that current tax collection rates are relatively low.

He stated, “If citizens want improvements in education and healthcare, it’s crucial for them to develop confidence in these programs. Our foundation is involved with several successful models that demonstrate effective management of funds. We are focused on creating highly efficient primary healthcare systems where resources are well allocated—ensuring that healthcare centers are neither underutilized nor overwhelmed, and that employees are performing exceptionally well.”
