Controversial Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky has called on Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy to forgive fellow entertainer Speed Darlington and secure his release from prison. In a series of Instagram stories posted on Sunday, Bobrisky expressed concern for Speed Darlington’s well-being, urging Burna Boy to show mercy and release him, stating that 45 days in prison should be sufficient punishment.
Bobrisky shared that while he wanted to avoid involvement in Nigerian celebrity drama this year, his compassion for others led him to speak up. He emphasized the harshness of prison life, particularly for those who cannot afford a VIP section, and urged Burna Boy to consider Speed Darlington’s situation.
Although Bobrisky acknowledged that no one had come to his aid when he faced challenges, he made it clear that he could not stand to see anyone suffer. He appealed to Burna Boy’s empathy, asking for Speed Darlington’s release.
In addition to his appeal for Speed Darlington, Bobrisky criticized fans for supporting the entertainer’s controversial actions in the past. He urged followers to hold celebrities accountable for their behavior, pointing out that many had applauded Speed Darlington during his public spats but were now silent during his imprisonment.
Speed Darlington was arrested in October 2024 for defamation and cyberstalking Burna Boy. He was initially detained in Lagos before being transferred to Abuja, where he was held by the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team. After his release, he was re-arrested in November while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, shortly after returning to Nigeria.
