Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, was released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following his denial of allegations that he paid a N15 million bribe to officials to dismiss money laundering charges. Bobrisky was detained late Thursday night at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport while preparing to board an Amsterdam-bound flight to London.

Upon his arrest, he quickly informed his followers, claiming he sustained injuries during the incident. Transferred to EFCC headquarters in Abuja for questioning, Bobrisky refuted the bribery claim made in a viral audio clip, which was posted by social commentator Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

In a statement to the EFCC, Bobrisky denied any payment was made, challenging Otse to substantiate his allegations. An insider familiar with the investigation confirmed that Bobrisky insisted no EFCC official solicited a bribe.
