Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria, (KACRAN), has dished out some advice on how the new service chiefs can win the ongoing war against Boko Haram terrorists.
Hon. Khalil Mohammed Bello,
National President of the Association in a statement made available to The Premier News in Damaturu on Monday, spoke in reaction to the recent appointment of new service chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Bello on behalf of the Association suggested among others that the new service chiefs should kick-start their activities with sincerity of purpose and holistically review the nation’s security framework with a view to bringing positive changes.
He also admonished them to bring strong unity among the military commanders, rank and file, as well as other top brass security personnel.
Creating friendly atmosphere for members of the general public, according to the KACRAN’s National President is one of the surest ways of encouraging people to divulge information about adversaries and other criminals within the society, hence the need to adopt the method for local intelligence gathering.
“They should place more emphasis on attacking the enemies’ hideouts rather than being on the defensive side in front line or battle field.
“Timely or quick response in case of getting any report or information by the attacked communities or those who fear that they may be attacked by Boko Haram terrorists or other hoodlums.
“They should also convince the Federal Government to procure and supply them with modern and sophisticated military hardwares”, he advised.
Good motivation, adequate welfare package for officers and soldiers should also be part of the new service chiefs’ priorities as hinted by Bello.
“They should make sure that in the time of recruitment into the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air force, only those who are interested with noble military profession are recruited.
“And let there be instant promotion of any officer or soldier who demonstrated bravery in battle field or fought gallantly”, he said.
In view of the rising cases of armed banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling as well as other forms of crimes rocking the country, the Association’s National President called on all Nigerians to fully cooperate with the service chiefs and give them all the necessary support to enable them effectively and efficiently discharge their responsibilities.
