Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is running for president of Nigeria in 2023, has no employment history, according to the world’s largest audit and tax consulting firm, Deloitte US.

This was claimed by the company in a letter dated September 20, 2022 and signed by Senior Legal Specialist Tish Negron in response to a records demand issued by Robert G. Hanrahan Investigations, LLC, a private investigator and investigative agency.

In well-documented interviews, Tinubu has stated that while working for Deloitte & Touche in the US, he earned $1.8 million and became a “instant billionaire.”

According to Premium Times, Tinubu stated in an interview with TheNews Magazine on March 29, 2016, “At Deloitte and Touche, I elected to travel more than 80% of my working years there. And the reason for that is that a staff member who traveled would earn more money since he would receive travel expenses.

“We went there to build up their accounting and auditing system,” he continued. My financial breakthrough came while I was a customer of that business. My employers offered me a sizable bonus when I got back to the US, making me instantaneously a billionaire.

Before taxes, the bonus was $850,000. I wasn’t touching my salaries because they were being deposited into the bank as well. My salary deposits in the bank had increased to around $1.8 million at the time.

Award-winning Nigerian writer David Hundeyin published a copy of the demand for data into Tinubu’s employment record with the US-based firm and the firm’s response. Hundeyin has written extensively about Tinubu’s alleged criminal history.

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu has alleged that he earned $1.8 million in pay and bonuses while working as a consultant at Deloitte USA,” he tweeted.

In order to obtain proof of Tinubu’s employment and staff payment records, we sent Deloitte USA with a subpoena. This is what they produced, plus more.

He also shared a letter from Deloitte stating that Bola Ahmed Tinubu never worked for the firm.

Tinubu is vying for Nigeria’s top seat on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
