Babatunji Wusu –
Olayide Adelami was put through a screening and confirmation procedure by the Ondo State House of Assembly on Thursday in order to become the state’s deputy governor.
This resolution came about as a result of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s nomination, which she had just 24 hours earlier submitted Adelami’s name for approval to the Assembly.
During the plenary session of the Assembly, the nominee was confirmed after the House selection committee, headed by Speaker Olamide Oladij, reviewed and approved their report.
The House had already done a screening process for the nominee at the Assembly complex prior to the plenary session.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s letter introducing the nomination for consideration was read aloud by House Clerk Jaiyeola Benjamin during the session.
After submitting the report, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Abayomi Akinruntan, recommended approving the nominee’s appointment, affirming that Adelami had been adequately screened.
The motion for the confirmation of the candidate and consideration of the report was put forth by Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, the Majority Leader of the House.
Felix Afe seconded the motion on behalf of Akoko North West 2 Constituency.
The session was chaired by Speaker Oladiji, who approved the confirmation and congratulated the Deputy Governor-elect.
He reassured the administration of the House’s support for the nominee to give it his all so that the people may reap more benefits from democracy.
Adelami replied by thanking Governor Aiyedatiwa for the nomination and promising to uphold the trust entrusted in him.
