Babatunji Wusu –
According to a story that was refuted by the Defense Headquarters (DHQ), General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023.
General Musa has returned from an official assignment outside the nation and is in good health, according to a statement released by the DHQ on Tuesday.
The story regarding the supposed death of the CDS is completely untrue and untrustworthy, according to the DHQ statement, which was signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information.
The site that had previously reported on General Musa’s death, according to Gusau, has since taken down the article and expressed regret to the CDS, his family, and the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The statement says, “An online newspaper published an unfortunate article claiming that General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), passed away yesterday. The attention of Defense Headquarters has been drawn to this.”
“The report lacks credibility, is unethical, and is regrettable.”
“To correct the records, General CG Musa is very much alive and well, according to the CDS. After returning from an official mission abroad, the Chief of Defence Staff has returned to work with greater vigor, determined to further advance the Nigerian Armed Forces with his unique leadership style.
Since then, the online publication has taken down the news article and unconditionally apologized to the CDS, his family, and the Nigerian Armed Forces.
