22 Justice of the Appeal nominees for Supreme Court elevation have been submitted to the National Judicial Council (NJC) by the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC).

In a FJSC document that journalists were able to access on Thursday, the names of the nominees—who are from all around the nation—were disclosed.

Two nominees each from the South-West and South-South regions, compared to six from the North-Central region. Two are nominated from the North-East, while six are from the South-East zone. After Justice Amina Augie retired, the Supreme Court has just 11 justices in office. This development follows her retirement.

The number of judges of the highest court was reduced to 11 as Justice Amina left the bench at the obligatory retirement age of 70.
