Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Thursday made a triumphant return to the Government House in Port Harcourt, hours after he was received by a jubilant crowd at the Omagwa International Airport.
The governor’s arrival followed days of heightened political tension in Rivers State, with speculations over his absence from official quarters and ongoing power tussles within the state’s political circle. His supporters, who had thronged the airport in their numbers, broke into songs and dances as they hailed his return.
Chants of solidarity rented the air as Fubara waved at the cheering crowd before proceeding in a convoy to the Government House. The atmosphere in Port Harcourt turned festive, with many describing the governor’s return as a sign of renewed stability in the state’s leadership.
Observers say the show of support underscores the deep-rooted loyalty Fubara still commands across the state, despite recent political intrigues.
