Babatunji Wusu –
The Appeal Court in Lagos dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Olajide Adediran’s challenge to the proclamation of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the victor of the state’s governorship election on March 18.
The three-man panel unanimously upheld the verdict of the Lagos State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which confirmed Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s victory on September 25.
The appellants failed to prove their charges of falsification and non-qualification against Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, according to the court.
“Even though they were all pre-election matters, the appellants (PDP and Adeniran) still failed to prove them,” the justices concluded. The appellants arrived and went empty-handed. They were simply having a good time in court. “Their petition is denied.”
