Arsenal Women’s manager Jonas Eidevall has resigned, just weeks into the new season, following a disappointing start that saw the team win only one of its first four matches in the Women’s Super League. The team also suffered a significant 5-2 defeat in their opening Champions League group stage game against Bayern Munich.

Eidevall joined Arsenal in June 2021 from FC Rosengard in Sweden, leading the team to two League Cup titles and the Champions League semifinals in the 2022-23 season—their first appearance at that stage in a decade. His final match in charge was a 2-1 home loss to Chelsea in the Super League on Saturday.

Arsenal announced that Eidevall’s resignation was effective immediately. Sporting director Edu Gaspar expressed gratitude for Eidevall’s dedication and acknowledged his contributions to the growth of Arsenal Women’s team.

Assistant coach Renée Slegers will take over on an interim basis, starting with the upcoming home match against Vålerenga in the Champions League on Wednesday.
