The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced the suspension of three private jet operators’ permits owing to alleged commercial flight activities.
Chris Najomo, the NCAA’s Acting Director General, announced the statement on Tuesday in a riot act that was distributed to all airlines today.
Below is a video clip of Najomo reading the riot act.
On January 24, 2024, the NCAA issued a warning that private jet owners who provide commercial services without sufficient compliance risk having their licenses withdrawn.
Najomo made the announcement during a presentation of his agency’s 2024 projects in Lagos.
The statement came shortly after a private jet leaving from the Federal Capital Territory crashed near Ibadan’s airport.
The National Safety Investigation Bureau responded to the situation by criticizing the operator, Flints Aero Services Limited, for flying a non-commercial flight with a permission.
The NCAA DG emphasized the importance of private jet operators getting a commercial license before conducting commercial or charter activities.
Najomo emphasized the regulatory framework, adding that only holders of an Air Transport License and an airline operating permission with a valid air operator certificate are allowed to perform charter operations.
