Babatunji Wusu –
On Monday, members of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and Department of State Services (DSS) agents surrounded the PDP secretariat in Ondo State.
The state opposition party’s secretariat was surrounded by security personnel stationed outside of their vehicles.
Kennedy Peretei, a spokesperson for the Ondo PDP, confirmed the presence of security personnel and stated that they were there to thwart a planned peaceful protest by party youth.
Peretei added that workers were not permitted to enter the secretariat and that the purpose of the demonstration was for the youths to seek information regarding the whereabouts of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who has been away from the State since April 2023.
Recall that on Sunday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) warned of PDP and some APC chieftains’ attempts to cause a crisis in the state.
It stated that Governor Akeredolu would return to the State shortly.
According to the Ondo APC, Governor Akeredolu has been doing out his official responsibilities wherever he goes.
